9-30: Some of you are having issues with wrong tenses and spelling. While proofreading before submitting your paper, consider trying to read your paper out loud. You will catch some of these mistakes.
9-22: This semester's trip to the Holocaust Museum in Washington, taking place on October 25th. All the necessary information can be found on the following site:
4-25: There will be a delay returning your papers. I will explain on Monday.
4-21 I made a video about MLA formatting
4-20: I had an idea about revision I want to run by you this week...
4-18: Here is my proposed update to my attendance policy. Please offer some comments.
Student attendance is important. Students are expected to attend every session unless there is a legitimate reason for them missing class. Failure to regularly attend class will greatly impede student success. Your grades will be determined by your writing, but attendance and what you contribute to the course are crucial. If you do not attend class or contribute actively, you are unlikely to comprehend the course material well enough to pass the course. I will not tolerate frequent lateness. Leaving early, without prior permission, is considered disrespectful and will not be tolerated. If this is a morning class and the student has difficulties staying awake or showing up on time, I would strongly suggest finding another section of this course to take.
4-7: I have updated our syllabus for the rest of the semester.
10-28 I have begun grading your time management papers. I hope to finish them by the end of the week.
10-17 On Thursday 10-24-13 Professor Sarah E. Colona is doing a reading for her new book of poems in the IRLC in Pemberton at 1pm.
10-17 The "Anyone Can Be A Novelist" seminar is coming Saturday 10-26-13 to the IRLC in Pemberton. To register email library@bcc.edu

Announcements For Fall 2009
12-13: There will be a class in ACAD 201 on Monday morning, so I am going to have to move my office hours. Most likely, I will be either near the couches on the second floor of the ACAD building or in the faculty lounge on the third floor.
12-13: I have received your final papers. I graded and returned a number of them last night and this morning; I will finish the rest later today.
12-6: During office (9am-11am MWF in the large computer lab in ACAD) and E-Office hours (9pm-11pm W) I have come up with the following nifty ways to contact me:
Yahoo! Messenger: professorwend Google Talk: professorwend@gmail.com AIM: professorwend
The really cool news: I now have a voicemail/office phone number. You can reach me during office/e-office hours at 609-836-0641. During other hours you will be prompted to leave a voicemail for me.
12:6: I am in receipt of your completed journals. They will be sent back to you today or tomorrow. Remember: your poetry exam is on Monday! If you have any last minute questions, please come see me in my “office” in the large computer lab from 9am-11am.
11-12: I have uploaded our updated syllabus on the sidebar. The schedule tab above has also been updated to reflect the minor changes we made to our coursework.
10-5: A number of students have asked questions about the format for your papers. Your papers should always follow the most recent MLA style (7) in use. Please make sure your papers are:
Typed
Titled (underlined and centered)
Page numbers in top right corner (Last Name Page Number)
Double Spaced
One inch margins
Include a separate works cited page
If you have any questions or need further clarification please see me or send me an email.
10-3: Here are some new media resources for The Lottery:
About a year ago, A. M. Homes, who wrote the introduction for the most popular anthology of Jackson’s stories, read The Lottery for The New Yorker’s monthly fiction podcast. There is a good discussion following the reading. (Link)
