Peer Review Day!
Today we are going to be doing peer review. Often, as an undergraduate and graduate student, I found peer review to be very helpful. Whether organized in class days or outside of class amongst friends and/or colleagues having a fresh pair of eyes take a look at your work gives you a new perspective on your writing. As Cory Doctorow once put it, "fresh eyeballs are made of awesome!"
I will try to get us into a computer lab for peer review, but there may not be space available.
As you read, consider some of the following concerns:
-
Are ideas fully developed?
-
Can undertold ideas be expanded upon? How?
-
Are appropriate transitions between ideas used?
-
What questions do you have for the essay writer as you examine their work?
-
Do you have any hesitations?
-
Is any important information left out?
-
Do any portions of the essay seem irrelevant or out of place?
-
Are there any portions of the text where ideas or cultural norms clash with each other?
-
Is there proper MLA documentation?
-
Is grammar usage correct in the paper?
-
Are important details like page numbers, indentations, and spacing done correctly? Does the paper conform to the expectations stated on the final paper handout?
-
Anything else you can think of? (Please let me know so we can edit this page)
